Got grit?

“I’ve missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.”

-Michael Jordan

The most successful people are the ones who have failed the most.

And never gave up.

At Outsource Marketing, we call it grit. And there’s no better way to understand it than to see it demonstrated. Here are just a few examples of people who knew a thing or two about grit:

  • Walt Disney was fired from the Kansas City Star because he “lacked imagination and had no good ideas”
  • Thomas Edison’s teachers told him he was “too stupid to learn anything”
  • Dr. Seuss was rejected by 27 different publishers
  • Abraham Lincoln lost numerous political races

The list is endless. In fact, we’re willing to bet that every successful person you know in life has grit. Because without it, they wouldn’t be successful.

They’re the people who never say never. They learn from their mistakes. They pick themselves up of the ground after they’ve been beaten, bruised, bullied, and belittled. They look fear in the eye with tenacity. And they know that being successful is more than not being afraid to fail.

It’s failing forward.

So next time you face failure…

Reach down deep and get some grit.
