Happy Earth Day! Want to save the rainforest?

Have you heard? Planet Earth is in danger and it needs our help!

You’ve seen the ads, the videos, the commercials, urging us to save the planet by donating a couple bucks a day, calling a toll-free number, etc. The frequency of these ads is startling, leading me to believe our world as we know it is falling apart at the seams. Most often, organizations promote their cause to save the earth through crisis. They couple shocking images with tear-jerking music to tap into our emotions and trigger our unbearable guilt. Cue Sarah McLachlan.

But we’re growing immune to this type of promotion. We’re throwing up emotional shields by simply changing the channel, flipping the page, or hitting the mute button. Still, most organizations aren’t changing their marketing strategies.

It’s not that we’re cold-hearted. We want to help, we just don’t know how. Where is my money actually going when I donate 25 cents a day? Seriously—if I call within the next 10 minutes do I really get a free shirt and tote bag with that donation? When it comes down to it, the most daunting question is “am I truly making an impact?”

This three-minute video captures this exact predicament in a comical way by empathizing with our guilt and showing us how easy it can be to make a difference.

Want to save the rainforest this Earth Day? All you have to do is follow the frog.
