“Season’s Greenings” from the Port of Seattle

Today we received the above postcard from the Port of Seattle. Inside it reads “Please recycle peace, love, and joy.” Nicely done, Port, especially when you stack it up against the holiday message I received from Waste Management. I thought to myself, “self, this looks like something worth sharing.”

Then I got an email from my partner, Bill Boyd. He had just been contacted by Rob Walgren in Public Affairs at the Port. Rob was asking for permission to post Going green with your marketing to post on the Port’s intranet.

Now I was really intrigued, so I called Rob. He explained that the Port of Seattle’s goal is to be the cleanest and greenest port in America. It’s an organization-wide initiative being led by the Port’s new CEO (as of January, 2007), Tay Yoshitani. Here’s an op-ed piece he wrote entitled Clean, green focus will help Port step up to competition.

The Port sees a green approach as a competitive advantage they can own. Thanks, Port. Seasons Greenings to you!
