Take me out the the ball game

By April 6, 2015October 27th, 2021No Comments

The buzz in the air is palatable. It’s MLB Opening Day and it doesn’t get more Americana than this, folks.

Some fans love the traditions dating back to the first recorded game played in 1846 between the New York Knickerbockers and the New York Baseball Club. Others enjoy the family-oriented atmosphere or the freedom to belt out “Take me out to the ball game.” Some just come for the peanuts and beer.

But for most, whether young or old, it’s the drama. A game where it’s the bottom of the 9th, 2 outs, runner on 3rd and your team is down by a run. It’s rally cap time. And you love these guys.

No, I mean you REALLY love these guys.

Why? Because baseball has done a great job marketing their players. You feel like you know them. You’re invested in them. You’d invite them to your kid’s baptism if you could just get their number. (wait, do you have it?)

And who are the kings of MLB advertainment? The Seattle Mariners and their awesome ads. In fact, there are news stories dedicated to showing the making of the Mariner’s commercials. The making of the ads. That’s how much excitement the M’s have managed to build for their team, even during seasons where the M’s weren’t doing so hot.

So, I leave you with one my favorite M’s ads. What are some of your favorite sports commercials?
